Hi,

during my recent code changes I learned that some gtk methods
are deprecated since GTK 2.4 and replaced by much better methods
(e.g. combo boxes).

It is not crucial to upgrade to 2.4 in terms of functionality or performance.
But if there is no major reason to not upgrade, we should do it to be allowed
to use GTK methods introduced in 2.4 and to get rid of unsupported
methods.

Opinions?
